This comprehensive telehealth application bridges the gap between patients and providers by creating a secure, digital medical environment. Beyond simple video calls, it integrates appointment scheduling, e-prescription management, and instant access to medical records. The platform ensures that remote healthcare is not just a convenience, but a fully functional extension of the clinical experience, accessible across web, iOS, and Android devices.

Preliminary Design or Layouts

The preliminary design focuses on a unified cross-platform experience powered by React Native. The layouts map the critical user journey from secure login to the virtual waiting room, ensuring ease of use for patients who may not be tech-savvy. The architecture highlights the data flow between the user interface and existing hospital systems using HL7 FHIR standards, ensuring that patient data is visualized accurately and seamlessly within the app during consultations.

The Challenge

The healthcare sector faces a dual challenge: providing accessible remote care while maintaining rigorous data security and regulatory compliance. The core difficulty was ensuring HIPAA compliance without creating friction in the user experience. We needed to solve the issue of interoperability—integrating with fragmented Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems—while guaranteeing high-quality, low-latency video connections that doctors could rely on for accurate diagnoses.

What We’ve Done

To meet these strict demands, we built the communication backbone using WebRTC and Twilio, ensuring high-definition video with end-to-end encryption. We engineered the backend on Node.js and PostgreSQL, hosted on a secure AWS infrastructure designed for 99.9% uptime. Security was prioritized through comprehensive audit logging and secure authentication protocols. Furthermore, we implemented HL7 FHIR standards to ensure seamless, standardized data exchange between our platform and external EHR systems.

The Result

The platform has been successfully adopted by 5 major healthcare networks, currently facilitating over 50,000 video consultations every month. By prioritizing reliability and user experience, the app has achieved a 4.8/5 rating from both patients and healthcare providers. It has not only achieved full HIPAA certification but has also streamlined the prescription process, proving that remote care can be as effective and secure as in-person visits.
